Breast Implant Illness Series: Part 3, Tamra Dae On Challenging Societal Norms
Tuesday Dec 03, 2019
Tuesday Dec 03, 2019
Part 3 of the BII series brings our first story of a woman who was experiencing severe symptoms of Breast Implant Illness and finally realized explanting was her best option. Tamra Dae was a former college D1 soccer player turned bodybuilder who then got online to talk about topics that really mattered to her like building self-esteem, overcoming traumas, evolving, and growing ourselves as women and humans.
Tamra is the founder of two online business as well as a model, actor, and avid powerlifter. Her busy schedule had her overlook some serious health issues that she never thought could be attributed to breast implants. In early 2019, divine intervention led her to get her breast implants removed, and now she is an advocate, speaking about the dangers of breast implants, as well as dissecting the current narrative around plastic surgery and the pervasive message in our society that women need to change, fix, and perfect their bodies.
Tune in to hear the rest of Tamra's story, and follow her on Instagram @tamradae.

Part 2 of the BII series helps us set the stage for our discussion about breast implant illness, and what the explant process is like as we talk to a board certified plastic surgeon.
Dr. Kai Morimoto is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and has been practicing in Spokane, WA since 2004. She remains at the forefront of the latest trends in plastic surgery through Continuing Medical Education Courses and constant Medical Journal research. She is often referenced in on-line forums and has been interviewed and quoted in reference to Breast Implant Illness and Enbloc/Total Capsulectomy.
She shares her expertise with us in this episode to help give women context for what BII is, and what to look for in a surgeon when removing your implants. She also shares some success stories from her patients who have chosen to explant.

The Breast Implant Illness Series: Part 1, My Implant & Explant Journey
Monday Dec 02, 2019
Monday Dec 02, 2019
This week I am really excited to release a new mini-series on my podcast Well, Then. This series is all about Breast Implant Illness and women who have chosen to get their breast implants removed. Every day I will release a new episode that features a different woman’s story, or more in depth information on this issue. This is such an important topic to talk about, and you will hear why in these episodes.
So many women are suffering from serious, debilitating, and painful health complications, often times in silence because there isn’t reliable information out there on these foreign objects that we’ve normalized putting in our bodies.
The first episode (live on iTunes, spotify and google play now!) gives you a little more insight into my personal journey with getting implants put in & later removed. Throughout the rest of the week you will hear from board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kai Morimoto, @tamradae, @tawnaeubanks, @karleej, @sarahannestewart, and many more women who shared their stories with me for the purpose of this series. Subscribe for updates on my website, and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes so you don’t miss a single episode in this series. And be sure to share this with any women in your life who have implants or have considered getting them. As always, follow me on Instagram to send in any questions you may have as well (@megansherer).

Ep. 36: Managing Food Challenges On Thanksgiving
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
The holiday season can be such a magical and joyful time of year. But it can also be particularly stressful, especially for people who struggle with their relationship with food or have a history of disordered eating. All of the food-centric celebrations can trigger old thoughts and habits and emotions can run high.I know because I have been there myself. There were so many holidays that I didn't truly enjoy because I was so preoccupied with stress about food and my body. Let me tell you from personal experience, holidays are so much better when you get to be fully present with friends and family rather than stuck in your head about what you are or are not eating.
This episode is for anyone who wants any support with managing food challenges on food-focused holidays, or for people who want to be able to support loved ones in their struggles.
Happy listening and happy Thanksgiving! Sending you all lots of love.
Make sure to subscribe for updates on the podcast, as we have a very exciting series coming out soon!

Ep. 35: Maris Degener on Yoga And Eating Disorder Recovery
Monday Nov 25, 2019
Monday Nov 25, 2019
“I came to the practice because I thought I needed to be fixed. I thought there was an inherent wrongness about me that needed to be corrected. Yoga made me realize I am already whole and complete. You’re already inherently worthy by being here on this planet.” Wise words from my beautifully wise guest on this episode, Maris Degener.
Maris is a yoga student and teacher, as well as a UCSC psychology student. She came to the practice of yoga in high school after facing mental health challenges, and has fallen in love with sharing the practice and passing on what has been taught to her. On this episode we dive into her journey and many of the lessons she has learned along the way.

Ep. 34: My Struggle With Anorexia As A Teen & How Yoga Helped
Thursday Nov 21, 2019
Thursday Nov 21, 2019
I recently watched the documentary “I Am Maris” on Netflix, about a young girl who discovers yoga through her journey in healing from an eating disorder. Watching this film immediately sent me into a reflection about my own journey with yoga and an eating disorder as a young girl. These days, I spend very little time thinking about what it was like to struggle with anorexia all those years ago. To be honest, I often forget about that chapter of my life altogether because it feels like a lifetime ago. But yoga is obviously still such a huge part of my life today, and I’m reminded of how it very much saved my life on many occasions just as it did for Maris.
The fact that I no longer struggle with any remnants of an eating disorder is something I believe I owe in large part to yoga. This episode is simply an ode to that fact. I was so inspired by Maris’s story that I not only felt called to record a podcast episode about my own struggles with an eating disorder, but to also interview her about her powerful story. Tune in to episodes 34 and 35 of “Well, Then” to learn more about how yoga is such a powerful tool in recovery, and in life in general.

On Episode 31 of Well, Then, I dive into conversation with my friend and fellow wellness professional Katrina Wright. We talk about her journey to self-acceptance and self-love, challenges she's faced and overcome, and how she envisions the food industry changing for the better. This is a real, raw and honest conversation with a young woman who is making big waves and being unapologetically herself in an industry full of comparison and competition.
